The game will now take it's own course and the rat will steal the piece again, shutting the door. Don't worry. Press the yellow button and the door will open. Don't forget to pick up the rod that you used in the trap before you leave. Go outside, and go over the bridge that is over the waterfall. In this room you will find a blue rod in a hole in the wall. Take it and return to the nexus.
